Today, in collaboration with Poetry.Hype and I Am Root, we’re honored to highlight an individual whose journey is rooted in healing, collaboration, and unwavering belief in the power of community.
Meet Am Bro, an artist and organizer whose mission goes far beyond music. With nearly a decade of experience building bridges in the Arizona creative scene, Am Bro returns with a powerful new offering — We Manifest Mixtape Vol. 1 — a project born out of intention, love, and the belief that music can uplift, transform, and connect us all. BIO: I am Am Bro, and for nearly a decade now, ever since my feet first touched the Arizona soil, I've carried a vision as clear as the turquoise skies out here. Coming from a place where community and rhythm are the heartbeat of life, I quickly noticed the raw talent simmering in the Valley. From my very first year, I've been on a mission, trying to rally producers and engineers to host a mixtape, something to spotlight the vibrant artistry bubbling beneath the surface truly. More than anything, I craved the chance to be hands-on, to help cultivate that opportunity. Fast forward to 2025, and as fate would have it, my brother, Illy Tha Spitta, introduced me to the incredibly gifted producer OhkSteven, also known as Okay Steven. From the moment I heard his work, I was captivated – his talent hit me like a powerful konpa beat. I wasted no time, grabbing a few of his instrumentals. The idea started simmering, first with my homie Viva La Ca$h, but then, as I crafted hooks for each beat, a full-fledged plan began to form. I kicked off an Instagram campaign to bring in a diverse chorus of artists, a true reflection of the talent. Once I gathered my roster of artists, I began booking studio time out of my pocket, investing in multiple sessions to capture every voice, every lyric. Then came the meticulous work of mixing and mastering, often at IDDC Studios with Kieng, ensuring each track resonated with the clarity it deserved. My brother, Illy Tha Spitta, lent his sharp ear for detail and creative insight, and together, a year later, the fruit of our labor is finally here! The mixtape is out, generating organic numbers, but what truly fills my spirit is the outpouring of positive responses. It's more than just music; it's a testament to the power of collaboration and the rich talent we have. I'm excited to see where this journey takes us, envisioning not just one, but a legacy of volumes: Vol. 1, 2, 3, 4, and beyond. This is just the beginning, a true taste of what Arizona has to offer.
INTERVIEW:
Am Bro
Presented by
The Rooted Minds Blog x Poetry.Hype
RM: For those who may not know, how did you develop the name or concept for your business or project?
A: I decided on We Manifest Mixtape because I was literally manifesting the things I wanted to see come to life in my life. Like a mixtape. Like certain artists' collaborations. Like certain opportunities to be able to host events surrounding the music. Plus, great music

RM: 1) Tell us about your inspiration behind an upcoming project. 2) What do you hope to accomplish, and what do you hope people take away from it?
A: I was inspired by my growth and that experience. I was introduced to the language of healing and elevating, and I felt that if just being introduced to the language can help me, then why not everyone else? So I wanted to put the language of healing into music without leaving people bored when listening to it. Real talk
RM: What have been some effective ways that you've marketed yourself in your space and industry?
A: I have leaned on my organizing, hosting, and social media marketing to help build brand awareness. The biggest attribute was Me, people really like me. So when I go out to events, or even host events, I make sure I am approachable and safe for people to speak to me. Once they get to know me they are in. Our out. I'm only human.
RM: How have you grown as an entrepreneur or creative in the last 5 years, and who's been influential in that process?
A: The growth I made in my personal life has led me to create amazing opportunities for myself as an entrepreneur and as an artist. For myself and others. Being able to turn what I love doing into business opportunities is pretty dope. I influenced myself to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I'm surrounded by amazing people now, but that wasn't always true. Yet I still inspired myself to try things, create things, and continue to do so. If anything, I've been told to slow down. I can't. I'm in the HOV lane, and my community is on the move
RM: What are some short-term goals that you are working towards that friends and supporters can help you with?
A: I am trying to grow my start-up, Game Bro. It is an entertainment company that helps people host gaming events, such as Game Night, at their venue or homes. Now there's Game Night and then there is Game Night with Game Bro. Follow @gamesbybro on IG for more.
RM: What are one or two things that keep you grounded? How do you practice good self-care, or how can you practice it better (if you've been lacking in that area)?
A: My wife, Laraya, and my everyday people keep me grounded: Jazzy, Treasure, Marcus(Illy), Andrea, and Kieng. I take time to reflect on my moves and decisions. I practice self-care by making sure everything I choose to be a part of serves me instead of draining me.
RM: What are some words of wisdom or encouragement for upcoming creative entrepreneurs that you'd like to share?
A: Manifestation will never come without intentions. Meaning, yes, manifesting is real, but if you don't put any energy towards the thought. Any effort. Are you manifesting? Or waiting for a handout?
RM: What has been the best piece of advice you have ever received about your career and industry?
A: "Show up for yourself in the ways that matter most" Is one message that stuck from my sis, Jazzy The Healer.
