IVY$UNSHINE | Spotlight Feature

Updated: Jan 20, 2023

Welcome back to another spotlight by the Rooted Minds Blog, where we connect with Artists and Entrepreneurs to learn about their journey and shed some light on the various happenings in our community.

Our brand is big on being able to connect with other emerging artists and learn about their journeys. So many of us have very unique stories and approaches, so we believe that it’s important to highlight those moments and continue to put that good energy out into the world.

This next feature is through a referral and we are looking forward to keeping up with her artistic journey. Arizona is so rich with new talent and creatives coming together to make art. It's exciting to see the scene grow in the many ways it has. We have to continue to find ways to support, stream, and share music coming out of this area.

Let's tap in with IVY$unshine

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE

IVY $unshine

RM: Rooted Minds

IV: IVY$unshine

RM: What has been your journey to being in the field that you’re in today? (Artist, Musician, Athlete, Entrepreneur, Business Owner, Creative, Etc.) What has been the most impactful lesson that you've learned?

I$: My journey has been full of self-doubt and learning to that I don’t need to be perfect I just need to be me! Music has always been my safe space a place where I can address my emotions in a positive way shining the light on my creativity and shimming parts of my soul but it always brought out the perfection monster because I am so passionate about it. The most impacted lesson I’ve learned is to get out of my head! Get out of the self-doubt and just be me.

RM: For those that may not know, how did you come up with the name or concept for your business, brand, channel, or project?

I$: Well part of me learning to embrace myself was being proud of my name which I never liked. Ivysunshine is my middle and first name put together.

RM: 1) Tell us about your inspiration behind an upcoming project. 2) What do you hope to accomplish and what do you hope people take away from it?

I$: The inspiration behind my album is being about to convey feelings I’ve experienced and let them go. Healing myself through harmony. I want people to take away how important it is to not hide your feelings inside; feel, then understand, then let go and move on.

RM: What are some effective ways you've marketed yourself in your space and industry?

I$: I am currently still trying to market myself. It’s a trial and error-process for me right now, but one method I am progressing from is skits I’ve made to my music in order to promote it.

RM: How have you grown in your field (entrepreneur or creative) in the last 5 years and who's been influential in that process?

I$: I’ve grown vocally so much. I’ve developed my sound by being comfortable singing anytime anywhere on the spot. As an artist, I’ve seen myself breaking the cages of mind by tearing stages off the floor! My music has actually touched people and that is what I’m most proud of. My best friend Kay has been the most influential person in my music journey because she’s stood by every Diva breakdown, long night, session, traveling and everything else that comes with this.

RM: What are some short-term goals that you are working towards, that friends and supporters can help you with?

I$: I would just say continue encouraging me to take care of my mental health!

RM: 1) What are one or two things that keep you rooted/grounded? 2)How do you practice good self-care or how can you practice it better (if you've been lacking in that area)?

IV: I am still trying to figure that out honestly. I am a pretty chaotic mess.

RM: What are some words of wisdom or encouragement for upcoming creatives, entrepreneurs, or people in a similar situation that you'd like to share?

I$: Practice every day and get out of your head. You are enough!

RM: What has been the best piece of advice you have ever received in reference to your journey, career, and industry?

I$: Use social media as your own tv show.
