Choose yourself Pt. 1

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

Imagine... You just graduated from college. A few college loans behind your name, a new car which you leased, and a couple of bucks in your pocket. You have not yet confirmed a job but with your head held high you feel good about all your accomplishments up to this point. It is the beginning of summer, and like your past summers you are excited to create memories, you are looking forward to having the best summer job that will turn into full-time employment. You cannot wait to embark on real life “adulting”

Now imagine three years later... You wake up one day and wonder... How in the HELL did I get here. What paths did I take? Who did I follow? Why does this not look familiar? This is many of our realities, many of us make decision after decision never really looking up or ever checking our pulse to make sure we were actually happy with the choices we made.

We pick a job right out of college because we have so much debt that needs to be paid off, plus we spent FOUR years studying something that we are not even sure we care about or want to pursue anymore.

We hang out with people who at one point we had similarities with, but now wondering how we are still friends and why we are both wasting our times with each other, however, will not end the friendship for fear of missing out (FOMO).

We date people because we are all afraid to be alone, or to eat by ourselves, travel by ourselves, even think for ourselves. One night when we're in our bed by ourselves. Lying there, it will hit us... I HATE MY LIFE BECAUSE I DID NOT CHOOSE IT FOR MYSELF... How did I get here?
