Fear of Greatness

May 7, 2017

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. – Marianne Williamson

I do not keep myself up at night biting my nails to the beds about the greatness I wish to achieve. The glory of satisfaction when I have served the masses the bread ideologies I sell. No. I spend my 2am creative energy frosted in the guts of my mediocre 9 to 5 existence.

Debt. Bills. Stapling things. Censorship.

The ever present hum of the fluorescent office lighting above my head lulls me into my deepest 3:45pm nap.

Is this the life I was meant to pursue?

Tell me, why are we so afraid to jump out at our dreams?

Mother says, “It’s too risky.”

Father says, “It’s against our faith.”

Brother says, “It’ll never work.”

And Sister says, “You can’t achieve it.”

Yet inside rages 2am creative energy that implodes with excitement for businesses, travelling, playing, and laughing.

Alas! We were meant for more than Sally Mae calls at 6am sharp and meeting after meeting devoid of art. I was designed to design, to create, to conquer! I was put on this earth to expand beauty.

So forgive my leap of risky faith but God is working through me, and in her hands I am never guided to censor my passion for the comfort of a few.

So I began to bite my nails to the beds at 2am with red and orange lights dancing around me. I am not afraid to escape the mediocre 9 to 5 existence.

It’s time.
